چکیده
The system that consists of a ball bouncing off sawtooth-shaped table vibrating vertically is considered. horizontal motion in this caused by the shape, and we plotted mean velocity as function asymmetry shape. transported direction which gentler slopes face for high-bounce parameter region. To give description to net asymmetric transport, derive simplified model using assumptions high bounce probabilistic collision left or right slopes. exhibits transport qualitatively similar observed original model.

Vertical chaos and horizontal diffusion in the bouncing-ball billiard.
The bouncing-ball billiard is a low-dimensional system with which transport properties of real physical systems can be studied theoretically. We study the bouncing-ball billiard with nonconvex scatterers and small slopes. We show that between the horizontal and vertical motion there is a separation of time scales, which is controlled by the slope of the billiard. We apply the theory of time-sca...
متن کاملThe Completely Inelastic Bouncing Ball
The motion of the inelastic bouncing ball is examined. The time of flight is modelled through numerical simulation using MATLAB. Then the time of flight is experimentally verified using a metal block constrained to move in one direction mounted to a vibration table. Time of flight is measured using a continuity sensor. Bifurcation diagrams are created for a range of accelerations and compared t...
متن کاملIrregular diffusion in the bouncing ball billiard
We call a system bouncing ball billiard if it consists of a particle that is subject to a constant vertical force and bounces inelastically on a one-dimensional vibrating periodically corrugated floor. Here we choose circular scatterers that are very shallow, hence this billiard is a deterministic diffusive version of the well-known bouncing ball problem on a flat vibrating plate. Computer simu...
متن کاملSynchronization to a bouncing ball with a realistic motion trajectory
Daily music experience involves synchronizing movements in time with a perceived periodic beat. It has been established for over a century that beat synchronization is less stable for the visual than for the auditory modality. This auditory advantage of beat synchronization gives rise to the hypotheses that the neural and evolutionary mechanisms underlying beat synchronization are modality-spec...
متن کاملGrip-slip behavior of a bouncing ball
Measurements of the normal reaction force and the friction force acting on an obliquely bouncing ball were made to determine whether the friction force acting on the ball is due to sliding, rolling, or static friction. At low angles of incidence to the horizontal, a ball incident without spin will slide throughout the bounce. At higher angles of incidence, elementary bounce models predict that ...
